About Us

In a world of quick hits, sound bites, and the pressure to get the scoop before the daily deadline, the full story sometimes gets lost. It’s the nature of today’s journalism. However, sometimes, the story needs a closer, more thorough look for people to truly understand it.

That’s what we hope to do through this on-line magazine. As students in the last year of our journalism programme, we want to explore journalism that gets to the heart of a current issue in a way that a web search, 90 seconds, or 500 words can’t.

Our goal is to provide a group of soon-to-be-graduates the opportunity to publish their work. We will have a theme for each edition, and a coherent collection of stories each month.

The students in our class have ownership of the site and the stories, we’re editing, producing, and publishing the stories, taking turns in each of these roles.

We also hope to change who views our work.

While we want the St. Thomas University community - students, faculty and alumni - to be a part of our audience, we hope people in Fredericton, New Brunswick, and even across the country read it. We want this to be a leading publication for people to look to for a deeper understanding of the issues of the day.
